Strathendrick Pipe Band operates primarily as a teaching band for pipes & drums with the intention of progressing through the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA) grades.
We have a varying age group of learners and experienced players. For the children, it is an excellent way to help them learn to be part of a team and instils a sense of discipline. They are required to learn how to look after and wear their uniform, maintain their instruments, continue to progress in their playing ability, but most of all – have fun in the process.
There is nothing quite like it for increasing self-confidence and teaching children how to get on with people from different walks of life and from different generations. There is a very strong tradition within the piping and drumming community of the older members of the band passing down their expertise to the younger players and this is very much the case with the ‘ahem’ ‘older – experienced’ players of Strathendrick.
It has been great to see the learners progress and develop with confidence over the years. The band is a very family oriented band with many dads/daughters/sons and brothers/sisters playing together. Strathendrick Pipe Band is open to everybody – young and old, beginners or advanced players and we meet every Monday and Thursday evening from 7.00pm – 9.00pm in the Edmonstone Hall in Blanefield.
So if you fancy having a try please come along. Instruments are provided for learners of all ages.
