The Home Guard

Home Guard – Following the “Stand Down” order for the Home Guard, it was decided that the “S” Company, 3rd Dunbartonshire Batt., Home Guard Pipe Band shall continue under an organisation to be known as the Strathendrick Pipe Band Association. A constitution has been approved and office bearers appointed. The object of the association is to encourage piping and its kindred arts, ie., country dancing and Highland Dancing. It is considered that such an association will prove a definite social asset to the district. Already a considerable number of boys have received instruction in our national music and dancing. Any effort to promote and popularise our own Scottish cultural arts deserves the support of the community. Membership of the association is open to all interested. Applications will be received by the local committee, Mr Jack Kirsop, The White Yett, Strathblane. The band will be available to provide music at any function in the district. All requests for its services should be addressed to Mr Wm. Davidson, Croftamie Cottage, Drymen Station.
